• 16- children a day, or an estimated 5,862 a year, were hospitalized due to firearm injuries.
• More than half of the children hospitalized for gunshot injuries lived in a zip code that fell within the bottom 25 percent of median household income.

• Some children who received codeine or tramadol have experienced life-threatening respiratory depression and death because children metabolize these medicines much faster. 
• The FDA is calling for new restrictions on the warning labels of these medications to protect children., adolescents, and infants being breastfed.  
• The FDA recommends physicians use other medications for treating cough and pain.

• The number of preschool children with visual impairment is projected to increase by 25% in 2060.
• In 2015, more than 1700,00 children aged 3 to 5 years in the United States were visually impaired.
• Hispanic white children will account for the largest number and proportion of cases, follow by African American children. 
• Vision screening for refractive error and related eye diseases may prevent a high proportion of preschool children from experiencing unnecessary visual impairment and associated developmental delays.
